About Meadowlake
Situated in far west Houston, Texas, our cavaliers love to run, play fetch or just take an afternoon snooze.
We are small home based breeders. At Meadowlake, our emphasis is on striving for excellent health, temperament, structure and quality of type necessary to conform to the breed standard. As you browse our website, you will notice our devotion to improving each successive generation. In addition to comprehensive health testing, we regularly compete in conformation events to test our breeding stock against the ideals of the breed standard. I have been fortunate to have Hiram Stewart handle many of our dogs to their AKC Championships. To that end, I am very proud to have earned the advanced level - AKC Breed of Merit Silver in my breed with at least 25 titled dogs and 15 champions that I have bred. When a cavalier has had the suggested 4 health screenings: heart, eye by specialists, patellae (knees) and hip evaluation, they are assigned a Canine Health Information Center number. These CHIC numbers are shown on the OFA website for each animal. The CHIC logo is easily visible next to their name. You can search health testing at www.ofa.org.
I have been involved with Cavaliers since 1997 when I acquired Gems Coco Au Lait from Jimmy Lee Roberts of Gems Cavaliers. Coco became an AKC conformation champion and won many best of breed ribbons. He also competed with me in the agility ring and earned his Master Agility Excellent and Master Agility Excellent Jumpers titles. Outside of the competition arena, he was a wonderful therapy dog and enjoyed visiting area nursing homes and hospitals. Coco was a great ambassador for the breed as he would just as happily spend a lazy afternoon snoozing with you as he would racing around the agility ring. The following year, Gems Scarlet joined our household. Lucy, a ruby, is the foundation of my whole colored cavaliers. Lucy also earned multiple agility titles. Lucy remained heart clear her entire life until she passed away 6 weeks shy of 16 years. We have been very fortunate that many of her descendants have inherited her good health and longevity.

Occasionally we have puppies or young adults available to special homes. Prior to breeding, the parents’ hearts are checked for Mitral Valve Disease annually by a board certified Cardiologist and their eyes are examined by a specialist. My vet routinely checks patellae on all adults and puppies. We also x-ray hips and elbows after age 2 on our adult dogs. A link to the test results on the OFA website is located on each individual dog’s page. Parents have had the DNA tests and cleared for episodic falling and dryeye/curling coat prior to breeding. With selective breeding, I have eliminated both conditions from the Meadowlake bloodlines.
The puppies are born, raised and live in our home along with all my cavaliers. Early puppy training in house skills and socialization is important whether you plan to show, compete in performance events or have a wonderful pet. Meadowlake cavaliers are sold with limited registrations and spay/neuter agreements. They are sent home with copies of the parents’ health testing, a well puppy vet exam, vaccination records, AKC Reunite microchip and a handbook of care and instructions. Meadowlake cavaliers are dual registered with the AKC and CKCSC, USA.
